My child is covered by two insurances, how does that work?
The order of the insurance plans is determined by the “birthday rule” when two health insurance plans are involved.
The order of the insurance plans is determined by the “birthday rule” when two health insurance plans are involved.
The rule states that the insurance plan of the parent whose birthday comes up first in a calendar year is responsible.
For example:
If one parent/guardian's birthday is in January and another parent/guardian's birthday is in February, then the children get assigned to the policy in January because that birthday comes up first in the year.
