How should you prepare for the Patch Test?
Plan on taking it easy while the patch is in place. Movies, board games, and iPads are good distractions.
- The patient (you/your child) must refrain from activities that cause sweating.
- Avoid exposure to heat (e.g., being outdoors at beaches).
- Prevent anything that will create rubbing on the patch (e.g., theme park rides).
- The patch must remain clean and dry while in place; no bathing, showering, or swimming.
- There is no need to stop any antihistamines.
