What are Treatment Foods?

Treatment Foods are specific allergens that the patient will be introduced to during their treatment.

The process begins with an “introduction” where a smaller amount of the allergen is given at the patient's Food Challenge appointment. The patient will then eat the prescribed treatment foods at home, increasing amounts over time.

The goal is to prepare them for a larger volume of that allergen during the next in-office Food Challenge. The food introduced during this process becomes their “Treatment Food”.

Remember that proper adherence to the guidelines during this phase is essential for achieving sustained unresponsiveness (remission) and ensuring the long-term success of the treatment.
